I was born and educated in Wales and have been teaching Primary School students
for the better part of thirty-five years. At heart I have always longed to create but a family and a mortgage ensured my plans
were put on hold until I took a leave of absence from teaching, in 2001.
Having heard about the delights of San Miguel de Allende, in the highlands of Mexico, I decided to set up easel there. I spent a year there "living my dream",
painting and doing ceramic work each and every day. I joined a studio at Belles Artes and worked with an abstract painter,
Irv Kcyzmaric, for a year. Irv is a Polish American who went to San Miguel as a second year art student and never left! He
believes in the "Nike" way of teaching - just do it!! He says the only way to learn to paint is to do the work. And work I
did, finding out quite early that I truly enjoyed abstraction.
My
work comes from within me...........from my memories, my life experiences, my intuition. Each time I stand in front of a canvas
I know I am about to embark on a new journey where I will make discoveries about the world and myself. When looking at my
work I hope the viewer will let himself be stirred by his unconscious mind, rather than searching for concrete meaning.
