Biography
(Summary from Artist)
As she immerses herself in art, at all levels, Mickey tells you she is
having almost as much enjoyment as when she is producing it herself, in the areas of watercolors, pottery, mosaics, stained
glass, pastels and sometimes, oil.
Mickey has travelled extensively with her artist husband Henry and studied
art in Spanish and French museums, Russian cathedrals and our own Southwest. They have explored 22 sites, examining and photographing
cave art throughout the Pyrenees and Southern France.
Mickey studied cartooning in NYC. In Boston,
she attended Scott Carbee and the Museum School.
Although she once drew cartoons, she is prouder of the many watercolors she has shown and the commissioned mosaics that hang
in a Nahant church.
She has exhibited and won many prizes in shows in the N.E. area but her work hangs in many homes
in the USA and in Europe. Her favorite
mentor is Betty Lou Schlemm in Rockport and she has studied with Judi Betts, Joseph Santoro, Ferdinand Petrie and Claude Croney.
Ms Szafarz has been an active, longtime member of the Lexington Arts & Crafts Society, the North Shore Painters Group
and Cape Ann Painters.
